Indiana walked alongside the edge of the lake, looking out at the water. His mind was still thinking about the information that he had on poltergeists that he managed to find in the library but it had also opened up a new direction that he had not read about before: Recurrent Spontaneous Psycho Kinesis Syndrome or RSPK.

After some time, Indiana sat near the edge of the lake before looking at the strange template that he brought with him.

Silently, Cass sat herself down next to Indiana. Out of her pockets, she pulled out a mass of small pebbles. With no skill, she threw each one into each gentle wave as it came closer and closer to her bare feet.
    "What's the story, friend?"

Indiana turned to see Cassopeia next to him before showing her the stone template that had strange and unfamiliar symbols.

"Hi, Cass. Anyways, when that secret chamber in the Forbidden Corridor began shaking, I found this on the ground and took it out." Indiana replied. "I haven't been able to find any books on the symbols shown here."

The youth then added. "I'm a bit disappointed that my Head of House wouldn't answer my questions regarding Peeves and how long he had been inhabiting the castle. I'm stuck having to find some answers by myself."

    I know that feeling.
"I'm here for research. So this stone template, huh. These runes. You're going to need a rune book to translate- we don't study them at lest until third year. Did you think to look in the Restricted Section?"
Cass listened to the sound of the surf for a while.
"I could ask my Head of House, if you'd like."

"Well, we could look in the Restricted Section but I doubt the professors would approve of it." Indiana replied. "And I don't think Professor Williams will be happy to know that this template came from the Forbidden Corridor, implicating that we were in there illegally. I certainly don't want to wear a tiara or earrings like Will Black."

Indiana shuddered at the thought of the Head of Ravenclaw having him cross-dress as punishment.

After a moment of thinking on options, Indiana spoke once more. "I can only think of two options: the Restricted Section or asking the Room of Requirements for translation books."

"The room of requirement it is," said Cass finally.
She kept a hold of Indiana's arm.
"I think I know what it is in the Forest."
She looked at him, finally. Probably the first time she'd actually looked at him- she had a tendency to look into the distance when speaking. She hated eye contact0 they usually saw too much.
But right now she didn't mind.

"Agreed." Indiana replied before noticing Cassopeia looking at him.

Hearing her mention about the mystery within the Forbidden Forest caused him to sneak a glance at the forest from the corner of his eyes.

"Are you sure you want to talk about it?" the youth asked with concern. "You don't have to if you don't feel comfortable about it."

    Cass' forehead wrinkled.
Indiana had already shown his true colours, and he wouldn't shun her.
She may as well. It was the least she could do. She trusted him.
"I think I should, Indie. To you, at least." she bit her lip. "I think it was my brother."

"Your brother?" Indiana asked quietly. This was something he hadn't expected to hear. Yet it also sounded like something that Cassopeia wanted to be kept quiet about and he had no problems with that.

He was a bit curious as to why Cassopeia thought that it might have been her brother. Perhaps he was wrong and off his mark in regards to what presence was in the forest. Whatever the case, he sat quietly and nodded for Cassopeia to continue.

"He-," she wanted to put it delicately, but sod it. "He's bloody insane, Indiana. He's sodding nuts. St. Mungo's wouldn't have him, so he ran away."
    She shook her head.
She continued in a strangled voice that wasn't really hers, "At first I thought it was a monster, then Peeves. But then he moved Bradley. He always did that. He's out there."
And I'm scared. She wanted to add so badly, but who is scared of their brother? Who's so terrified that they lay in bed for only minutes at a time until their dorm mates go to sleep, so they can stay awake, and keep watch in the Tallest Tower?

Indiana kept calm but inside, he was rather taken aback by Cassopeia's talk about her brother. A psychotic sibling that even St. Mungo's Hospital refused to have anything to do with such that he was on the loose?

Indiana could sense the fear in Cassopeia's voice as she spoke, leaving him to ponder on her safety. Surely, her sibling wouldn't be able to gain access to the grounds, let alone Hogwarts. But then again, the youth wouldn't put it past the possibility.

"I know that it probably isn't my business to ask so you can tell me if I'm crossing the line." Indiana spoke calmly. "What happened that caused him to become what he is?"

"There isn't a line to cross, Indie. Friends don't have boundaries," she assured.
"He's my twin. Only, we got seperated when we were at a circus with some friends of the family, and he touched a Portkey. That's all we know. He came home a few days after. He was different. He'd frighten me so much that I'd stay awake all night, holding Bradley. There was no going back, either. If it wasn't him scaring me senseless, he was vacant. Like he was dead, but breathing."
Cass stopped. Did she want to say anything else?
She went on. "My parents took him to St. Mungos' to see if they could get some memories out of him, something to explain where he'd gone when he touched the Portkey. In the morning we came back, there was blood everywhere and two healers were dead."
That was it. And what a burden to share. That was the greatest thing about Indiana, undoubtedly. Complete trust.
She daren't tell Jas, Theresa, Dixie, Samantha, or even Alex about this. Girls were quick to judge, as much as she loved them.

Vacant? Like he was dead but breathing? Indiana was inwardly disturbed on what he had just heard about Cassopeia's twin and took time to consider the details. Did he willingly change or did something that was beyond his control forced that change?

Indiana spoke. "I don't blame you for feeling so uncomfortable. What kind of person was your twin before he... changed? I don't think he willingly chose to be what you tell me that he is today."

"No, no of course not," smiled Cass, her sunny disposition back.
"He was- eh. He was. Like me," she shrugged.
"Everyone used to joke if I cut my hair off they wouldn't be able to tell us apart. But- to me. He was more than my Dad was. My dad just tucked us in bed and made us dinner. Done. Alex was there. Did all the things like- you know, stupid stuff, I'm sure May did the same- these mean kids locked me in a Wendy House and it was raining and they had left a blast ended screw leg still alive in there with me and he broke in through the window. Hands bleeding, I was sobbing, it was pouring..." She hugged Indiana again. No tears were here though. She was calm- calmer than Indie was; his heart beat was going fast.

Indiana hugged Cassopeia in return while noticing that his pulse rate had accelerated.

Her brother Alex was just like Cassopeia, loving and caring. It reminded Indiana of May and how his elder sister loved and cared for him through the best and dark times that they had experienced and Indiana himself had always been supportive of her.

Indiana certainly had no doubt that something had changed Alex as it didn't sound like he would willingly become insane.

"Cassopeia, people are never born evil. I don't think Alex chose to be insane on his own free will, especially at his age. Something must have happened to him that was beyond his own control to prevent, some outside influence that altered him beyond any resemblance to his previous self."

"I know," she admitted glumly. "it all stemmed down from that Portkey, the night I saved Bradley at the circus.

It's just, when I saw him- for the last time- and he was at first in his switched off mode. He didn't know who I was. But still he struck me. And then he got angry, and somehow it was worse- if he's in the forest, he's after me," she gulped. She hadn't really thought of it like that, until now.

"Could it be that whoever did this to him is taunting you? Perhaps making you feel that you would have the same fate just by using some sort of magic that makes you feel Alex's presence?" Indiana asked softly. "It's really not uncommon for a family's enemies to target the children first. Even in some Muggle societies of today, that's always a general tactic to use for psychological terror."

Taking a deep breath, Indiana continued. "Or perhaps Alex was just in the wrong place at the wrong time regarding the Portkey. I don't think there's much to worry about since the teachers and the ghosts are on night patrol. No one but Ravenclaws can gain access to the Ravenclaw Tower and you have roommates that give protection through safety in numbers."

Cass pretended to be swayed, and nodded.
It's not me I'm worried about.
"Alex was definately in the wrong place. He touched it by accident. He's a magpie- it was shiny, he was bound to touch it."

"I don't know about the mind games. All I know is something's there."

    "Ok." she repeated, softer. "Ok."

"We'll figure this out." Indiana whispered, wondering if Elise might have seen anything unusual since she tends to ride around the forest anyways.

Seeing that Cassopeia seemed to have calmed down, Indiana decided to change topics. He didn't want to make Cassopeia depressed any further on a sensitive subject, one that he would certainly keep silent about with conviction.

"So have you found a new home for Bradley yet?" Indiana asked.

"I'm glad you asked that one!" she grinned. "I'm thinking of letting him stay in the Whomping Willow for a few nights. I might stay with him too, until he gets settled. He hates moving."
Cass unearthed Bradley out of her pocket. "He always tells me which friends he likes. So far he likes all of them. What about you? He 'ribbits' -loudly- twice for yes, one for no,"

Indiana looked at Bradley for a moment. "He seems like a fine pet although he'll need some real good area with a lot of moisture to dwell in. Do you think it's safe for him to stay at the Whomping Willow? That tree is a bit wild and indiscriminate."

It seemed a bit extreme in his opinion for Bradley to stay at the Whomping Willow. Indiana himself was rather hesitant in regards to approaching the tree after seeing what it can do.

"Bradley's fast. Besides, the last time we went to investigate, the tree didn't mind letting Bradley pass- in fact, it made way for it- but when I tried, I got a mamping bruise on my stomach instead. Once he's in the shack, it'll be fine. It's cool in there."
Cass bit her lip. "There'd be nowhere else for him. I can't take him to the castle- he's not been registered."
Planning in her head what essentials she'd have to bring for both Bradley and herself, Cass ticked them off on her fingers.
An excess of Califlower and Mash, Schoolbooks. Toothbrush. A light. Company..

'I guess she endured some first-hand experience regarding the Whomping Willow.' Indiana thought to himself, remembering on how he too had gone through the same thing before the Hogwarts purge. Had it not been for his instincts and reflexes, he probably would've had some broken bones.

"Looks like he'll be safe with the Whomping Willow if that's the case." Indiana remarked before noticing a grasshopper flying in the air nearby.

"That's all I can hope for," she said, somewhat lamely. "But I'll be spending more nights often than not with him here anyway. I just love spending cold nights out under the stars- calms me somehow."
Cass threw the contents of her left trouser pocket- pebbles- into the lake, one by one.

Indiana smiled a bit, thinking about the number of times that he watched the stars at night. He had yet to camp out and spend some nights outdoors himself.

"I have to agree on how a star-filled sky can calm the spirit." Indiana replied while watching the small rocks that Cassopeia was throwing into the lake make ripples on the surface of the water. "But you'll need more than just your wand just in case you plan to do some star-gazing."

He wasn't sure on whether or not the lake was safe at night.
