The Relaxation Tree Empty The Relaxation Tree

Post by Guest Sun 18 Jul 2010, 20:10

Shelby wandered down to her favorite tree by the lake. It was one of the biggest trees at Hogwarts and had many low branches that made it easy to climb. Some of the taller branches hung over the lake, creating natural diving boards for students who dared jump in the cold water.

She placed a foot against the large trunk and grasped a branch, pulling herself up onto it. She sat and looked at the crystal clear water. It was so serene when there weren't many students outside. The comforting silence let Shelby escape into her thoughts and forget her normally hectic school life for a while.

Lauren wandered down to the lake, and saw in the distance that her friend Shelby was relaxing on a branch in a tree. Lauren made her way over to her friend, enjoying the breeze and the calmness of being outside. Lauren had always loved being in touch with nature, making Herbology one of her favourite classes, after potions.

Lauren tried to get Shelby's attention by waving, but it seemed she was miles away in her own thoughts. Lauren walked over instead and looked up at her friend from the base of the tree.

"Hey, you." Lauren said to her, tilting her head back so she could see her properly. "What are you doing in the tree?" Lauren laughed.

"Eek!" Shelby squealed, not expecting someone to start talking. She had to grasp the tree branch to keep from falling off of it. She looked down at the intruder. "Lauren, you scared me! I am in a tree because it is peaceful up here. Come on up," she said. "Do you think the new school rules are going to cut down on all the rule breaking?" she asked.

Lauren laughed as Shelby was startled by her presence. "Sorry I scared you!" Lauren called up to Shelby as she found a foot hold so that she could sit beside Shelby in the tree. She made it up in the tree, and sat down.

"I don't know. What I do know is that it is going to be hard to get out of the negatives!" Lauren said, "I do hope these new rules do do something about the rule breaking. It's getting pretty ridiculous." Lauren said, as she leaned back slightly, enjoying the peace from not being in the castle.

Theresa looked up when she heard a squeal and giggled "are you two ever not in a situation that could get you hurt or killed?" she asked, grinning as she saw Lauren and Shelby talking on a tree, it seemed that Lauren must have snuck up on her or something like that.

"Cheers to that," Shelby said. "Negative 175 points. Honestly, how are the Ravenclaws supposed to climb out of that hole? No wonder Will was completely freaking out earlier. I don't think it's very fair that everyone suffers when just a few people can't stay in line."

Shelby grinned down at Theresa. "What's wrong with a little danger? Come on up!"

Theresa snorted as she walked closer to the tree "may I remind you Shelby that the other night, you were one of those few people who cant stay in line" she said. "And there is danger and then there is the danger that seems to follow you two around" she said sweetly as she sat on a branch.

Lauren smiled down at Theresa, and giggled. "Shelby's right. I live on the wild side!" Lauren teased. "Come on up." Lauren turned to Shelby, "Yeah, It's going to be hard to get back in the positives, but I'm sure that Will will think of something using that brain power of his."

Lauren laughed at Resa's comment. "What did you do last night, Shelby? Hmm...?" She asked her straight and narrow friend, "You're right about me though, Resa... I seem to attract trouble! I'm just glad that I didn't get caught dueling outside the dueling club!" Lauren said.

"Why, Theresa, I don't know what on Earth you are talking about," Shelby said sweetly with a joking smile. "If you are referring to an excursion into the lake that may or may not have happened, I'm not entirely sure that swimming in the lake is entirely against the rules. And the danger follows Lauren, not me. After all, she's the Gryffindor!" Shelby laughed.

Lauren giggled, and looked at Resa, "That's very true. 'You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve and chivalry set Gryffindors apart'" Quoted Lauren laughing. "What's life, without danger and adventure!" Lauren said, laughing at her two friends; friends that she knew she'd have for life.

"Yes right, the trip that only may have happened" Theresa said, rolling her eyes as she giggled. "I am surprised that no one noticed you go into the catle soaking wet" she said, grinning as she remembered how wet everyone was. "I don't even know why we did it in our heavy clothes, it seems like an obviously bad idea now" she said.
She raised an eyebrow at Shelby and Lauren "no matter how you deny it or try and make it sound nicer, you two attrack danger more than anyone else I know" she teased.

"What can I say?" Shelby shrugged her shoulders dramatically. "I have the brains of a Ravenclaw, the courage of a Gryffindor, the sneakiness of a Slytherin, and the... something else of a Hufflepuff," she laughed again. "Hogwarts should just make me my own house. I could call it the House of Awesome. You two would be welcome in, of course," she giggled.

Theresa grinned and bowed the best she could on the branch "thank you" she said before she stuck her tongue out. "Us 'puffs are true and just thank you" she said childishly. "And are in the lead so go badgers, go badgers, go badgers" she chanted, doing a mini victory dance, grinning madly as she tried to not laugh.

Lauren laughed so hard that she nearly fell out of the tree. She recovered from her laughing fit and replied to the Ravenclaw. "You're obviously modest as well and generous too!" Lauren teased her friend. "And what would you call your own house then, Ms Thomas?" Lauren prodded her friend in the arm.

"That you are," Shelby smiled. "I have no idea how Ravenclaw is going to end up anywhere but last place. I think Professor Hunt might be our only hope. She seems to be the most gracious with points. Hopefully my group's DADA project will be good enough to earn us a lot of points," Shelby thought for a moment. "Either that or Will is going to have to think of a better punishment for rule-breakers than the Corner of Shame and the Stupid Hat."

"I already said," Shelby nudged Lauren back, "It would be called the House of Awesome. The dorms would be decorated like a fairytale castle and everyone in it would get to wear a crown," she laughed.

"Oh I love the sound of the House of Awesome, what two colours would it have?" Theresa asked, giggling at the idea of the fifth house. Hers would deffinetly be her favourite colour, purple, but she didn't know about the other colour, nothing looked good with that colour, she had to think more about it.

Lauren laughed, "Sorry I didn't hear that bit, I must have been laughing too much!" Lauren said, "I think it'll be a struggle for all of the houses to get back to respectable numbers... Well, everyone except Slytherin. They don't seem in too much trouble, points wise. I think we'll all have to start being responsible..." Lauren laughed and snorted at the same time, "If that's possible!"

Theresa pretended to gasp "you two are going to ask responsable, oooh this I have to see" she said before giggling. She looked thoughtfull for a moment and raised an eyebrow. "You dueled outside the dueling group, you have to tell me" she said before stopping "I am such a gossip" she said, shocked, like she just realised something terrible.

Shelby thought for a minute. "Each person in the house would get to choose their own colors. Mine would be hot pink and silver. Everyone would get to choose their own mascot as well. I think I would choose a tiger," her eyes twinkled with excitement. "Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could really choose our own colors and stuff?"

She turned to Lauren. "Yeah, I want to hear about that too. You're such a trouble maker," she teased.

Theresa snorted "trouble maker is an understatement for this one" she said, shaking her head, pretending to be disapointed. She thought for a moment "my colour would be purple and... oh I don't know the second, maybe red, even though they would look horrible together" she said, blanching at the idea. "I would so have a cat or a Alazkin Huski puppy as mine, they are my favourite" she said, giggling. She suddenly looked more serious "there wouldn't be any boys in this house would they because let's all face it, they are not awsome" she said, cringing before giggling madly again.
(OOC: I didn't even know until Lauren told me then, I skim read the part about the words because I saw the number 20, mental note, 'never do that again lol).

Lauren blushed, "It's nothing serious... Nick and I were just practicing some defensive spells and the like. It wasn't really dueling per say, but I'm sure I would have lost points doing it anyway. " Lauren said. "That sounds good about the colours.. I would choose purple and black, they look good together." Lauren smirked, "I'm so not a trouble maker," she said, though she did not really believe it herself. "Maybe a little bit."

Shelby laughed. "There might be a few boys. Nobody bad though, like Allen Parkinson. Maybe Indiana Lamperouge," she said thoughtfully, remembering a conversation she'd had earlier that day. "He is a very nice boy. I was talking to him by the lake earlier. He seemed genuinely concerned about when Will started yelling at me in the Great Hall."

Theresa smirked "now we all know that is a lie, you are such a trouble maker" she teased. "I am glad that it wont rub off on me, I am a Hufflepuff and we are always nice, good and do our best to follow the rules, as I Hufflepuff, I would faint at the very idea..." she said, unable to finish due to her uncontrolable giggles. "Your duel doesn't sound dangerous but you would probably have gotten in trouble for it if you were caught, for indangering others probably" she said, talking maturely for the last part.
"Ew you were hanging out with a boy, next thing we know, you will kiss him and the cooties will infect you two" she said, pretending to scoot back on the branch.

"Oh I was the only one that was endangered, so I don't think that was a problem." Lauren said, "I haven't even heard of the Indiana Lamperouge person? What house is he in?" Lauren asked. "Ravenclaw?" Lauren questioned Shelby. She thought that she knew all the boys but perhaps she didn't

Shelby blushed a little at Theresa's comment. "We were just talking. And I'm not going to kiss him! I'd rather get a thousand cootie shots than do that!"

Shelby shook her head in response to Lauren's question. "He's a Hufflepuff, which probably explains why he was so nice. I don't think there are any mean people in Hufflepuff. Except Theresa," she joked.

Honestly, what was Theresa thinking? Kissing boys is gross, Shelby thought.
