    Lake Empty Lake

Post by Guest Sun 25 Jul 2010, 10:30

Theresa skipped towards the lake as she looked through the book she was carrying. She was determined to find out what that thing was. She sat down at the edge of the lake and looked closely at the water for a moment. She knew it was stupid, the thing was most likely further and deeper in the water but she might have seen a glimpse of something. She sighed, there was nothing. She looked back at the book and read carefully as she planned how to find out what it was.

"Visiting the lake again?" Hilary asked as she approached her friend, remember the conversation they had had not that long ago. It really was their place for hanging out and relaxing.

"What are you reading?" she asked, taking a seat in the grass nearby. It wasn't as nice as it had been the other days, but still nice enough to sit outside.

Theresa almost tumbled forward as she crouched over the lake when she heard her friend's voice out of nowhere. She quickly caught her balance and grinned over her shoulder at her. "You sure know how to make your pressence known" she teased as she scooted away from the surface of the water. "Magical underwater creatures, I took it out of the library to try and find out what that thing was" she explained.

"I did make myself know," she said, with a smile. "I started talking to you."

Ah, the mystery creature in the lake. It was funny. Even though they talked about it quiet a bit and came back to the topic fairly often, none of them seemed to get bored with what might be hiding down there.

"Any new ideas?" she asked, taking a pack of gum out of her bag and offering it to Theresa.

"Thanks" Theresa said as she took one before she looked back down at the book. "I have looked through this book about seven times but none of the descriptions sound like what we saw" she said as she flipped through a few more pages. "Shelby says that Indiana thinks it might be a octopus which is cool but I am not going to stop until I know what it is, only if we had gotten a better look at it" she said.

"Don't octopuses live in salt water, though?" she asked, taking a gum herself before throwing it back into her bag. "That would be pretty cool though. I wonder what an octopus would think of living with the giant squid..."

She looked out over the lake, wishing whatever that creature was would come up so they could get a look at it.

"We need to go back down and see if we could find it," she said, thoughtfully. "But we'd have to figure out a way to breathe underwater so that we would be able to get a really good look at it."

Theresa nodded "yep, great idea Hilary, we will be able to see it a lot better then" she said cheerfully. She thought for a moment before her expression turned into one of horror "this means we have to go to the library doesn't it?" she asked grumpily, silently hoping that it didn't.

"What's wrong with the library?" Hilary asked, confused. She actually kind of liked the library. She was a Ravenclaw, after all. "We don't have to, but I'm not sure where else we'd get information on how we're going to breathe underwater. I highly doubt the teachers are going to want to give us the information we need."

"Nothing is wrong with the library, it is the librarian that I hate, that and the fact that the last time I was in there today to get this book, it was really crowded and Rain and a Hufflepuff were even playing exploding snap in there" she said as she clossed the book. She grinned "it would be great if they did just tell us" she said.

"It would be," she said. "But I can't imagine Professor Williams would be very happy with us if I went up there and asked her. We'd probably get in trouble for considering it, and then get in trouble for going in the lake and seeing it in the first place."

"I hate when it gets like that. People should go to the library to do homework or research. Not to play games and have conversations."

Theresa snorted "that would be briliant, what would we say? 'hello Professor Williams, we jumped into the lake to look for the giant squid, we saw something different and three of us nearly died, the water was cold but now we know that it is dangerous but we want to go find out what it is, do you have anything that could help us breath underwater?', her face would be priceless" she said, laughing.

"Hi Hello! The fun has arrived.. Meaning me, of course!" Lauren said to Resa and Hilary as they sat by the lake on a beautiful sunny day. "How are we today?" Lauren asked her friends as she took a seat next to the two girls. Lauren was smiling and feeling up for an adventure of some sort, she just didn't know what to do yet.

(OOC: I loved your diary entry, Resa!)

Hilary couldn't help but laugh at the thought of her Head of House's reaction in her mind. "I wouldn't want to see it after she realizes we're serious though," she said, still laughing. "You get to ask her. I'm saving my chances for when I get the urge to venture into forbidden places."

"Hey Lauren!" she said, as her friend sat down next to them. "Pretty good. Trying to figure out how to breathe underwater. You?"

"Breathe underwater, hey?" Lauren asked, thinking about what they could do. "Perhaps, one of the professors have oxygen tanks that we could borrow... thought that is probably unlikely, both that they would have oxygen tanks, and that they would lend them to first years even if they had..." Lauren pondered on this.

"I'm wonderful... I'm feeling elated today for some reason!" Lauren said, smiling and leaning back against the grass.

Theresa smiled "Hey Lauren, don't you mean 'the danger has arrived'?" she teased. "I am kind of sad, I cant find the stupid creature in this book" she said, gesturing to the library book she had been looking at. She grinned at Hilary "when she realises that we are serious, we would be in soo much trouble" she said. She looked at Lauren oddly before laughing "Professors with oxygen tanks, how do you come up with this stuff?" she teased.
(OOC haha, I just randomly stuffed lots of stuff together, forgot to call you tiny brain though)

"Yeah, that's what we were thinking," she said to Lauren. "We were actually laughing at what we thought Professor Williams reaction might be if we asked her about it."

"So, why are we feeling elated, Lauren?" she asked, a smile creeping across her face. "Been talking to someone special? Or just in general elated?"

Lauren mocked glared at Hilary, "No!" She said, "Can't a girl be happy, without a boy involved?' Lauren laughed, "I'm just happy! I would probably blame this happiness being here, with you guys, but now... I'm not so sure!" Lauren laughed again. "Professor Williams would probably laugh it off, I don't think she's all that serious. Professor Hunt, on the other hand, would probably join us in the search!"

Theresa laughed and practically jumped up and down "we should so ask Professor Hunt about it, to see if she would join, that would be too funny" she said, still laughing at the idea of their Professor jumping into the lake with them to find the creature. She turned to Lauren "and no you cant, not when your a boy loving zombie" she joked.

"It doesn't have to be, but a lot of the time it is because of a boy," Hilary said thoughtfully. "Or a really cool adventure."

"So let's go ask Professor Hunt," she said, suddenly after a moment of thought. "We don't have to tell her why right away. We can just say that we're curious... I don't know why yet. She might go along with it."

Lauren laughed at her Hufflepuff friend. "If I'm a boy loving zombie, than so are you! Miss Stubborn!" Lauren said. "I was only half joking about asking Hunt. Be my guest. I don't want to be the one to ask her. She's scary!!" Lauren said,

"Did you know that Professor Williams and Professor Hunt both had/have husband's named Jonathan... That's weird, if you ask me!" Lauren said randomly.

Theresa laughed "only you and Shelby are boy loving zombies and I am not stubborn" she said. She continued laughing but stopped at Lauren's random moment "both Jonathan... that's kind of creepy, how could they talk about their husbands without getting confused and what if they meet" she said. She cleared her throat "Hello Jonathan, my name is Jonathan" she said in a deep voice. "Yes, yes, hello Jonathan" she said in an even deeper voice.

"Oh yeah," Hilary said. "I forgot that Professor Hunt is scary."

She turned to Resa. "You know, if you're being stubborn about the fact that you're stubborn, that only makes you even more stubborn." She paused a moment. She had confused herself a little on that one.

"That's so random. And a big coincidence. Maybe they're the same guy and it's some sort of big conspiracy."

Lauren shook her head, "Didn't you know that Hunt's husband was murdered?" Lauren said, her voice quiet. "I suppose that's why she's always so on us about constant vigilance!" Lauren said. "They were in China, so I heard, and yeah. So there is only on Jonathan left. It's pretty sad."

Lauren laughed at Hilary's little confusing bit of logic, but it was true! "Hilary's right. Refusing to admit you're stubborn, makes you even more so!"

Theresa's eyes widened, her hand quickly clamped over her mouth. "I didn't know that, to be honest, I didn't even know the Professors were married" she said, she felt awful now. "What happened or is that all you know? actually, how do you know?" she asked quietly as she looked around carefully, making sure no one was looking at them or listening.

She stayed quiet. She hadn't known about that. That would explain a great deal about their Defence professor though. Suddenly the trust and always watching your back they were taught in that class seemed to make so much more sense.

Then a thought struck her. "Lauren, did you hear about the plan? The one with our dear friend Resa here?"
