Dimitri shook his head as he took the broom that Mary offered. Flying didn't have to be complicated. In fact, you could say Dimitri already knew the basics. Up, down, forward, back. Simple. It was when you added in pitching, yawing, rolling... That was when he began to feel off balance, and fall.

Still, this class was all about the simple stuff, and he could do that with ease. He lay the broom down casually, so he could begin like all the other students had. "Up," he called confidently, and it came up into his hand straight away. Normally, Dimitri would not have asked for help from the girl, but with a little grin he offered the broom towards her for her to steady.

Mary saw that Dimitri wasn't too enthusiasted for flying, but took the broom anyway. She didn't know what he was all grunty about, he probably flew before and he was probably much better at it than she was.
Taking a hold on the broom as he was mouting it, she was trying to keep it steady. She couldn't hold it as he did before, because her arms were too short, but she didn't care too much. Mary was doing her best to keep the broom steady and she couldn't help but grin. She had a feeling he didn't need her to hold the broom, but let her anyway.

He slipped onto the broom vary carefully so he did not nudge the girl kind enough to hold it steady for him, and gave Mary a smile, before letting it gently drift a few feet into the air. He was not planning on doing much more than this, however, as the moment the broom was no longer level, he would lose his balance.

Mary returned the smile and backed away as soon as he was in the air. It would not be good if he accidentally kicked her or something. She watched him hover and wondered how it'd be like to really fly, up in the air not just few feet above the ground.
I'll probably find out soon enough...I have to, don't I? I signed up for Quidditch. Why did I do that again? she was thinking. She never flew on a broom before and yet, she just signed up for the game that was quite dangerous from what she heard. Shaking her head, she decided to worry about that when she'll absolutely have to. Nothing was decided yet, it was very good chance tey won't pick her for the Chaser anyway.

Hilary carefully mounted her broom again, feeling rather nervous. She had been doing well with her feet firmly on the ground, but who knew how she would manage once she was actually in the air. What if she fell off? What if she couldn't fly the broom at all?

Pushing her nerves aside as best as she could, she pressed the toes of her shoes into the ground, pushing her up into the air a bit. She hovered a moment about a foot off the ground, still unsure of whether or not she was going to fall off of her broom. But she seemed steady.

Remembering what Professor Lewis had said, she leaned forward the slightest bit, feeling the broom move slowly forward. She smiled in triumph. This wasn't so bad.

She looked over at where Jasmeet was standing, and she motioned for the other girl to join her in the air.
