    Lake side Empty Lake side

Theresa walked over to the lake and sat down on the grass next to the edge of the water. She put her bag down and looked out over the lake. She took a book out of her bag and began to read. She flipped through the books as she wondered about the charms work.

Hilary headed down to the lake, wanting to clear her head. Between classes, homework and everything else, she was starting to get a wicked headache. She hoped that some fresh air would help clear it up.

She noticed Resa sitting a few yards down from where she was, and she moved to join her.

"Hey," she said, sitting down on the grass. "What are you reading?"

Theresa quickly finnished the last sentence of the page before she closed her book. She looked up and smiled at Hilary "hey, just a book about Hippogriffs" she said as she put it down on the grass next to her. She looked back at her friend "how have you been?" she asked as she leaned back on her hands.

Hilary frowned, her head still pounding. The fresh air hadn't had the desired effect. And a stack of homework at least two feet high was sitting up in her dorm, waiting to be finished.

"I've had better days," she admitted, honestly. She leaned back on her hands, letting the sun warm her face. "What about you?"

Theresa shrugged as she looked at the lake "I have been doing nothing really, just sitting around, waiting for something interesting to happen so I can get some gossip" she said. She sat up properly and looked back at Hilary "What's bad about today?" She asked, concerned that something was wrong with her friend.

"Nothing interesting every happens here anymore," she said, with a small smile. "Well, nothing that keeps on a conversation going for more than five minutes. Maybe when those quidditch games get going, we can talk about those."

"Nothing in particular, I guess," she said, pinching the bridge of her nose, hoping it would help. "I just didn't sleep great last night, and then between classes and homework and everything else, I ended up with a headache."

Theresa nodded "yea, hopefully those conversations don't involve 'did you hear who got hit in the head with a bludger' or 'so and so fell off there broom, yea, from thirty feet'" she said, shaking her head slightly.

She looked at Hilary "speaking of injuries, you want to go to the Hospital Wing, maybe there is something you can drink for that head ache" she suggested.

"Oh, you know there'll probably be at least one conversation like that, be it true or some story someone made up," she said.

She glanced back up at the castle she had just come from, debating whether or not her headache was bad enough to bother walking all that way.

"I'll pass," she said, deciding that she couldn't be bothered. "I don't have the energy to walk up there. It's not that bad, anyway."

"Ok, if your sure" Theresa said as she leaned back again and looked over the lake.

"Just because there will be at least one ceonversation like that doesnt mean that I cant hope that there wont be" she said. She actually felt nervous when she thought about people on brooms, high up in the air, anything could happen. Everything good was on the ground anyway.
"No idea why people like it in the air" she said, mostly to herself.

Hilary couldn't help but smile a little. Usually, her friend liked the idea of something that could be dangerous. Hence the joking about owning a dragon. She would have never thought that her friend would be nervous about flying.

"I don't know," she said. "I've only flown once or twice, but I kind of like it. It's nice. Free." She paused a moment. "Why don't you like it?"

Theresa shrugged "I think that people should keep their feet on the ground" she said. She hated heights unless their was something to hold onto properly like a tree trunk or something. "I can just see something happening and all the year are in the hospital wing" she said before shaking her head again. "Anyway, the ground is fun enough, why do people have to push that" she said.

"True enough," Hilary said. She didn't want to push it any further; it almost seemed to her that Resa didn't even like talking about flying. To each their own, she figured, shrugging.

"Are you going to go to the games, though?" she asked, curiously, wondering if her friend's dislike would stem that far.

"Not sure, I don't think so, I will just be worrying that someone would fall the whole time" Theresa said. She knew that she wouldn't be able to enjoy the game anyway, she would have her eyes closed the entire time probably. She knew it was stupid but she just couldn't stand heights unless she knew she was holding something secure and even seeing someone high up scared her.
"Are you going to watch them?" she asked.

"Yeah, I think so," she said, watching a few third years running around down by the forbidden forest. She wasn't sure if they were playing tag, running away from something or what they were doing.

"I've never seen a real game before, and I think it would be cool. I thought about signing up, but I decided not to, since I've only flown a couple of times and I only sort of know how to play. I might try out for the team next year."

"Yea, just as long as you don't end up in the hospital wing otherwise I will drag you back to the quidditch thing and make you quit, wether you want to or not" Theresa said, sticking her tongue out at Hilary. She probably would to if it came to it, even though she couldn't make her friend quit.

Hilary pretended to think for a second, as if considering her friend's deal.

"Okay, that sounds fair," she said, unable to hold back her smile.

She glanced back over at the third years, still unable to figure out what they were doing. All three of them were running in random directions for some reason. She nudged Resa. "What do you think they're doing?" she asked.

Theresa smiled, glad that Hilary didn't disagree, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. She looked up when she mentioned something and looked around. She saw some third years by the forest, they seemed to be running randomly. "No idea, think there had been a potions accident that melted their brains or something?" she asked jokingly.

    Hilary couldn't help but laugh.

"Maybe," she said. "But I don't think so. I'm pretty sure Professor Green would have prevented anything like that from happening." She watched as one of them, a boy, fell to the ground, rolled over and started running again. "I'd go over and ask, but they'd probably just tell me to go away."

Theresa rolled her eyes "sure, maybe it is a conspiracy where the Professors are stealing brains of students and using them for evil" she said dramatically. "We could be next, the horror, the horror!" she said, throwing her hands up into the air.

She looked at the boy and shrugged "alright but be careful incase what they have is infectious" she warned.

"It sounds like an old muggle zombie movie," Hilary said, with a laugh. She couldn't help but wonder which of the professors would be the leader of the zombie-creators.

"Are you crazy?" she asked, looking back at Resa in horror. "I'm not going over there! I learned my lesson about talking to the upper years within a few days of getting here, when a few fourth years tried to convince me that Charms was in the boys bathroom."

Theresa laughed, she had read about zombies before and they seemes awesome. "COOL, I want to be one" she said as she held her arms out in front of her and groaned like a zombie.

She fell back laughing at what Hilary had said. "IN THE BOYS BATHROOM!" she said, rolling around. "That is just too funny, what an.... interesting lesson it would be" she said.
"Did you fall for it?" she asked, grinning at her.

She shook her head at her friend. Of course, she would want to be a zombie. Hilary decided that Professor Malfoy must be the leader of the zombies, since the third years had only started acting weird now, and he was the most recent person to arrive at the castle.

"Of course, I didn't fall for it!" she exclaimed. "I'm smart enough to know the difference between a classroom and a bathroom. And besides, the charms classroom has a plaque on the door. The toilets have a picture of a boy on the door. It makes telling the difference easier."

Theresa laughed more at Hilary's explanation. "It would have been so funny if you sat in the boys bathroom with arms your charms work" she said, laughing even more, if that was even possible, at the image of it.
"I donno, me and Lauren managed to stroll right into the boy's bathroom and into what looked like a potions class, maybe it is used for lessons" she joked.

"Maybe it is," she agreed. "Charms, potions... There's probably something growing in there, so there could be herbology too."

She trailed off, her gaze returning to the third years. They had stopped running around now, and had all fallen over on the ground.

"I think they got tired," she said, laughing at the strange sight. Weren't they supposed to be the ones setting an example for them? "Look. They've all fallen over."

Shelby quickly made her way down to the lake from the Ravenclaw common room. She'd just gotten an owl from Resa telling her that she and Hilary were by the lake, so she went down to meet them.

"Hey there," she greeted when she found them. She looked curiously over at some third years who were down on the ground. "What's up with them?" she asked in confusion.
