It was drama time.
"Alex, my Aunt and I went to a circus. The Great Margerini's opening act was dancing frogs, only they were dancing under the Imperius. So after that act was finished I snuck backstage and got the cage opened. I got one frog, and before I could do anything else, I heard someone behind me, so I hid. But it was my brother, he'd come to look where I'd got to. He saw something shiny on the Margerini's dressing table, and then the next second him and the thing had gone. It was a portkey.
We didn't see him for months. We thought he was dead. And he was, kinda. He was vacant and quiet, and then the next minute he was taunting and violent.
This was so detatched from the Alex I'd grown up with. We shared our bedroom, and in the night, he'd let his head dangle from the bunkbed and tell me how he was going to scare me to death. I eventually told Mum and Dad and they took him to St. Mungos. It was so weird for one second, almost as if I'd made the last few months up, because he was talking all normally to me, telling me about the acrobatics he saw at the circus he wanted to see me do, and then he slapped me- completely back to his new scary self- and then I had to go. In the morning he'd left without a trace and two healers were dead.
So," Cass said, taking in a breath. "I was in the forest one day, and something kept picking Bradley up and dropping him, or moving him completely. That was what Alex did to taunt me. I took Indiana in the forest again, and then we went to the lake, and the thing was still there. We went to the Whomping Willow- because I said I'd sleep there in case Alex would try to breach the castle to get to me- and the same things happened- my wand disappeared upstairs and the stairs all were completely demolished. But then we heard laughter. And it was Peeves,"
Cass brought her cuff to her eyes and dabbed at them. "So now I don't know where he is. It's been a year. And I know he's a killer- please don't think of my brother as just a killer, he was so much more, he probably didn't even know what he was doing- but I'd rather see him come for me than be out there, attacking someone, not knowing where he is.
That's it. I think."
She let out a breath. Jas had to know this.
