Reading In The Sun

It was rather hot out today, and Harmony wanted to read out in the sun. She took off her cloak and set it on the ground, plopping down on it with a good book. She had brought Mozart's old sunglasses to use for the sunny day, and she loved the glasses dearly. They had been through a lot with her, Mozart, and Jen, and she was surprised they hadn't broken yet.

"Miracles do happen," she muttered to herself, opening the book to the page she was last on and letting herself be taken away by the story.

Jasmeet had heard Harmony when she said Miracles do happen. Sighing, she walked up to the girl, "Hey Harmony, I wish a miracle would happen to me right now," she said, her voice sad, and wishing that Harmony had not realised that she had called her Harmony instead of Harmy.

Plopping herself down next to her friend, she slouched her shoulders.

Harmony peered over the top of her shades to look at Jas.

"What's up, Meety?" Harmony asked, placing her bookmark back in her book and turning to look at her friend.

She wondered what had Jas in such a rut. She noticed that she had said Harmony instead of Harmy, so it must not have been good.

Slumping and looking almost as downcast as Jazzie was, Cass joined Harmony. Things weren't looking good. Infact, things weren't looking good. But she felt the slightest bit better now she had told Professor Williams she had partaken in - well. You know what. She tried to fix a smile on her face, but couldn't be bothered; she hadn't the drive nor the energy.

Harmony looked between the two, taking off her sunglasses.

"Well this is happy," she murmured, setting the book down on her cloak, before looking at each girl on either side of her once more. "It's a beautiful day, guys! You should be lounging around and reading. Well, at least having some fun. Don't be so downcast. Drama is a part of school."

"'guess so," shrugged Cassopeia. "carry on reading, Harmony. I'm gonna think up my DADA homework while it's warm."
Cass fished out her notepad, sketching out a few ideas to start the homework with.

Harmony stared at Cass for a few moments more before shrugging and placing her shades back on her face.

"What homework do you have for DADA?" She asked, opening her book again. "I think I have to do some Herbology, but..."

She shrugged. "Today's my lazy day. I'm not doing much today."

Jasmeet looked at the two girls beside her, "Well I've ruined everything. Because of me, Will hates everyone," she said, her eyes downcast, tears swelling up.

"He had said that his family didn't like Muggleborns, and now I've given him a reason to hate them too. I turned out to be a Mudblood after all."

Cass gasped loudly.
"Don't even say that, Jaz," she said, shaking.
"It's our fault that he's feeling alienated, if that's what it is, but don't call yourself what you're not- there's not such a thing anyway, Jasmeet Kaur."

"I only said what is true Cass. I can't match up to you all. Heck, I don't even know anything about the Wizarding World," she looked up at the two girls, wiping her cheeks.

All her friends were from families that had a link with the Wizarding World, but she was from a family that had no wizarding background.

Harmony looked over at Jas, shaking her head slightly.

"Will can hate anyone he wants. Sisters before misters, Jas. If he hates me even if I had no part in it, so be it. He hates me." She shrugged. "Never use the 'M' word again, Jas. You are never going to be one, and you shall never be called that in my presence. If anyone wants to call you that, they'll be on the receiving end of my wand."

Jasmeet managed a smile at Harmony, and hugged the girl. Her tears still falling down her cheeks.

"I just don't know how to make it up to him. He doesn't want me to dress up, plead on my knees - then how do I get him to talk to me and forgive me Harmony. His a great friend. And I've lost him because of my own stupid mistake."

Harmony blew some hair out of her face, sighing slightly.

"Well," she started. "you could write an apology letter to start off. Letting him know that you had no hard feelings with the whole thing and that it was supposed to be a joke. If he doesn't accept it then, it's his loss."

"I sent him a owl, I'm just waiting for his reply," shrugging she hardened.

You're more stronger than this Jasmeet, you pulled through when your dad dies, and you can pull through this too, she heard a voice in head say.

Brushing away the tears that had been falling down her cheeks, she tried to change the subject, "What are you reading, Harmony?" her voice still shaking.

Harmony adjusted her sunglasses and smiled.

"It's a Muggle book I think. It's called The Iron King. It's about fairies and fairytales like some of Shakespeare's works. Mainly a Midsummer Night's Dream. It's really good, and I think there's a second one in the works soon." She said happily.

"Shakespeare? I love Shakespeare though I haven't heard of that one. So far I would say that Hamlet is my favourite," she smiled at the girl, her voce clearer than before.

Harmony was a great friend, and she would do anything to not lose this one. And that was a promise.

Harmony grinned over at Jas.

"I've read Midsummer, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and a couple others. Macbeth I wouldn't recommend. It's a little weird and it's bloody really. Romeo and Juliet is so sad, and it is a good book none the less. I would change the ending if I could..." Harmony sighed. "I think I've read Hamlet, but I can't be for certain."

"Oh I've read Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth. Anything else I still have to read. Have you ever realised that most of his work is similar? All about revenge and love," she grinned at Harmony.

"Oh, I just remembered. Do you read history?" knowing full well that if Harmony did, there would be no end to the conversation.

"What types of history?" Harmony asked eagerly. "I read all sorts of things ranging from fantasy, history, romance, horror, comedy, you name it, I've read it!"

She loved her knowledge, and books were her number one priority behind her friends and family. She was sure she wouldn't find another love like books.

"OMG. Everything, I love to read every type of history. And I even like mythology, mainly the story of King Arthur and Merlin," she said enthusiastically.

Books were just her passion, she always needed a new book to read. Even she didn't have one, she felt like she was missing something. That's how deep her relationship with books was. And she could see herself mirrored in Harmony.

"Mythology is an absolute favorite of mine," she said, grinning at Jas. "I especially love like...Egyptian stuff you know? Like all the hieroglyphs, the Gods, and of course the pyramids."

She set her book down beside her and looked up to the sky. "Sometimes I wish I could take a trip out to Egypt," she murmured, smiling to herself.

"You have got to be kidding me. I love all the Egyptian stuff. The story of Tutankhamen, basically everything," she was so excited.

"We have got to have a history/book marathon Harmy, it would be so much fun," she smiled at the girl, for the first time that day, it didn't seem strained.

Harmony laughed, thrilled at seeing Jas so excited and animated. Harmony knew that she looked exactly like that whenever she was talking about the thing she loved most; books.

"I agree with you, Jas! Total slumber party with books and of course, loads of food from the kitchens." Harmony said, laughing and smiling.

"Well then. We should pick a date, and get as many people involved. It'll be fun, and we can have games too. I think Twister sounds nice," she winked at her, the memory of Alice's party.

Jasmeet had already started planning, the people, the games, the books - everything to make this slumber party work.

Harmony recognized Jas' planning mode.

"I'm sure you're mind is at work right now. Planning, plotting, infiltrating every possible scenario, Jas." Harmony mused, grinning at her friend. "Though, keep it down a touch ya silly girl. We don't need the whole school up in our business."
