The Book

Dixie ran to the most secluded spot at the lake she could find. She was here for pretty much one purpose only. She bit her lip, looking out at the water.
She looked around for a heavy rock, or perhaps a random length of rope. She waited for Alexandria to arrive.

"Hi Pyrix! You forgot the book!" Alex said as she waved at Pyrix, handing her the book. "Sorry, I am so late, I got a bit...uh....held up." she added with a grimace. "So what is your vote on this book? Keep, give or finish off?" she asked as she settled on the grass, "Wait! Do not answer, you want to drown it?" she asked, noticing the rock and rope in Pyrix's hand

[a.n. sorry I fell asleep while doing the homework!]

Dixie smiled a bit, looking at Ria Tia Smia. "Well, I honestly dunno. I've felt kinda weird since reading it and all. It's strange.... Anyways, we need to discuss the possibilities. If we read it, would there be any benefit? If we turn it in, what happens to us? If we drown it, then what if we find out that this book has some sort of protection charm on it?"

Alex bit her lip as she thought of the answers.

"It is a bit weird reading it. I am curious but scared and a little mad at myself, because I am not feeling scared that what can happen if I read it. No, I am much more scared, what will happen if we get caught with it." she finally answered, in a slow voice.

"If we turn it up, then it will be the right but no fun thing to do. Plus, we might gain a few house points. If the book has a protection charm on it, there is only one way to find out..."

Dixie looked at the book, then the rope, then the brick, and then back at Ria Tia Smia. She blinked. "Well, keeping it is probably not the best option, unless you want to owl it back home, then from there turn it in to the Ministry of Magic. Getting caught reading it while considering Bad Guy secret identities is an all out NO NO. So do you want to find out whether or not it's indestructible?"

"Absolutely!" Alex replied brightly. Taking the rope and trying to tie it to the brick and the book. What came out was such a jumble of knots that one tug by Alex was enough to open it.

Whoops! she thought as she tried again, this time coming up with a weird but sufficient knot.

"Would you like to do the honors or we do it together?" she asked, handing the book to Pyrix and grinning. She loved these type of moments!

Staring at the strange looking knot, Dixie said "Would you like to add drama to this moment? I've always found it much more fun when you do like an initiation ceremony or something!" Dixie took out her and gave the book steely sort of look, just waiting to get rid of it.
"Can't wait until you are tossed into the lake, lil bookie."

"Except if it has a indestructibility spell on it." Alex reminded, "Which would make our entire effort go waste."

she shrugged as she made an evil face at the book, "But that is also what makes it fun! Lets do it together! On the count of three?" without waiting for an answer, she started, "1......2........"

Dixie screamed "THREE!!!!"
With their combined efforts, the book was tossed ten feet into the lake. Well, that was pathetic. Dixie wiped her hands on her robes:why, she didn't know. All she knew was that the book was hopefully on the lake. Drowning, it's pages tearing apart, and it being eaten by minnows

"Do we have to go and check, if its being ripped apart, togged down or whatever?" Alex asked, grimacing at their 'oh so awesome' throw. "Cause if we have to, better get this done with. If we do not, then lets get out of the scene of crime before anyone notices us."

"I've seen ya!" cackled Cass, "although I don't think I'm going to be turning you in. However. I would like to know if what you are throwing is intended to kill more fishes? Because I'm going to have to use my power as a member of the Black Lake Creatures Friends Association to whoop both your asses."

Cass pulled an expectant face, rolled her arms together and let her foot tap. "Explanation, please." She grinned.

Dixie looked at the waters, and looked back at Casserole, then back at Ria Tia Smia. "Sorry Casserole, but this is EXTREMELY top secret. I mean, REALLY top secret. So top secret that it shouldn't even be classified as Top Secret."
Dixie pushed her glasses back up her nose, and gazed across the lake.

"So top secret that it shouldn't even be classified as Top Secret? Seriously Pyrix?" Alex asked Pyrix, her eyebrows quirked.

"Look Pecan! I am sure the book we threw in would not have negative effects on the animals inside the Lake! We would not have done so if it could have. Don't you know us? The fishies will be fine! Relax!"

Dixie laughed, and said "Ok, it's not so top secret, but it's definitely not something you want just anyone to know. Psh, it's just a book! The fishes will probably benefit from nibbling on it's pages or something."
Smiling, Dixie watched from the corner of her eye for the book resurfacing.

Cass laughed at Alex's accidental giving away of the plan, "a book, eh Dixie? How could you throw such a thing into a Lake? Unless it was Lockhart's books. I wouldn't mind that."
As Cass' cheeks mind burned, she decided not to reveal that she used to worship the ground he walked on when she was five.

Dixie sighed, and said "Well, it doesn't matter. The book is gone. It's in the lake, there's nothing we can do about it. Anyways," said Dixie, eager to change the subject, "What have you been up-AUGHHH!!"
The book lay there, on the ground.

"OH MY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell do we do now Pyrix? Like what now? How did it get back? I knew we should have checked! Shall we turn it in now? And - Crap! - Pecan?????!!!!!!!!!" Alex finished with a questioning look to Pyrix as she bit her lip, wondering the answer to the above questions.

Dixies eyes widened, and she grabbed Casserole, pulling her away. "DON'T. TOUCH. THE. BOOK." she screeched. She walked in a circle around it, and nearly fell over. It looked brand new, and she bit her lip, keeping her wand pointed at it. "I say," she said slowly, "We put this back in the library."

Cass' arm extended, curious, to the book, but stopped when Dixie slapped her hand away.

"Is this another book or something?"
Wait.
She knelt on the grass, a blade digging in her knee, leaning into the odd book.

A puddle on the yellow grass around the book showed it was the same.
"What the hell is this?" she said, incredulously. "And how did you get this out of the library?!"

Dixie nervously locked her lips, and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. She bent over, and picked up the soggy book. Frowning, she examined it. Besides the water dripping from it, it looked undamaged. Exchanging a look with Ria Tia Smia, Dixie said carefully to Casserole "Weeeell, we randomly found this book, and apparently it might be..... A dark book, should I say? Anyways, I think we are now going to give this to the Headmistress."

"Smart choice lets go! That book freaking creeps me out!" Alex said as she visibly shuddered, holding her hand out to check out the book. She had not known when Pyrix and her had shaded out the books pages to read, that they would read what they read. But the past was past and Alex knew she wanted to do nothing with the book in her future.

"Well I'll catch you guys later if you're going to the headmistress. Be sure not to touch it again, if that's what's the problem is."

Cass gathered her things together, and made sure to keep her tissue close to her nose in case of explosive sneezing. "Don't take anything from the resticted section unless you're sure it won't kill you!" yelled Cass as she ran back to the castle.

"I doubt that the book is gonna effect us by just touching, Pecan! AND WAIT! THIS BOOK IS NOT FROM THE RESTRICTED SECTION!!!!! OH AND BYE!!!" Alex hollered out to the retreating back of the girl. Then turning to Pyrix she asked, "You ready? I just, well, now, I think...." Alex bit her lip as she thought of the thing that had struck her brain after hearing Pecan.

"What if they think we sneaked it out of the Restricted Section?"
